
On August 18, 2017 Bob died suddenly at the age of 80 in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on December 7, 1936, to Thomas and Etta Monte Freeman in Haverstraw, New York. He graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army as a military policeman. In 1957 he married Bridget (Breda) O'Brien and shared 60 years of marriage with his best friend. In 1958, Bob started his career in law enforcement, serving in Spring Valley and Haverstraw, New York. When he retired with the rank of Detective Sargent in 1988 he and Bridget moved to Sarasota and then Bradenton Fla. He worked at both the Manatee and Perida Golf Courses and spent many days playing golf. Bob was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church and served as a hospitality minister every Sunday until his death. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife Bridget and three daughters: Breda Purdy (Sean) and Sheila Freeman both of New York, and Aine Marie McDevitt (John) of New Jersey; as well as his two adult grandchildren, Brigid and Liam Purdy. He is also survived by his sisters Jane Jersey of Virginia and Ann Senior of California, two brothers Don of New York and Gary of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas. Bob is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs will be held on September 22, 2017 at 10 am.
