Ronald James Schmanske went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on October 20, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan, and resided much of his life along the Florida west coast, ending with Palmetto, Florida. He was a graduate of Manatee High School, class of 1959.
Ron dedicated 39 incredible years of his life to Publix, serving as a Store Manager in Englewood, Venice, and Naples. He truly loved Publix and was so proud of the people he worked with and the lifelong friendships he made along the way. Afterwards, he joined the Dignity Memorial family continuing with a 21-yr career at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens serving as a family services advisor/counselor.
He is survived by his sister Carol VanNostrand (Bill), son Ron Schmanske (Lynda), daughters Maryanne Kennedy (John), and Christie Marone (Jon), along with grandchildren, Cameron, Jaxson, Nyah, Leah, Lyndsay, Madison, and Rylie.
Ron had a genuine gift for making people feel seen and valued. He cared deeply about others and never met a stranger. Whether it was an associate, a customer, a friend, or someone he had just met, he always took the time to talk, listen, and make them feel important. He knew so many of his customers by name, and his kindness and love for people were a huge part of who he was. He left an impact on so many lives through his kindness, leadership, work ethic, and simply by being the wonderful person he was.
We are going to miss his smile, his voice, his stories, and just knowing that he was always there. There is a huge hole in our hearts that can never be filled. Rest peacefully, Dad. You were deeply loved, you will be missed more than words can express, and you will never, ever be forgotten.
After a private family gathering, a celebration of life (golf themed) will be held at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton FL 34211, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00PM. Food and refreshments are provided.
