June 6, 1937 – October 9, 2021
Rose Marie Giambra, 84, of Sarasota Florida passed away on Saturday, October 9th after a multi-year journey with Alzheimer’s. She was born Rose Marie Lalley in Buffalo, New York to the late Francis Lalley and Elma Hillyard and was their 3rd child. She, also, is reunited with Francis (Elizabeth) Lalley and Elma (Christoper) Sousa in Heaven. She leaves behind a younger sister Kay (Ronald) Utzig.
She attended Mount Saint Mary Academy in Tonawanda, New York.
Rose Marie married her husband of 64 years Santo (Sandy) Giambra and started a family that grew to five children. A devoted mother, she nurtured their children through the bumps and bruises of childhood, supported them through the trials and tribulations of adolescence, and was very proud of the adults they have become; Robert (Jackie) Giambra of Loveland Ohio, Michael (Allison) Giambra of Rocky Hill, New Jersey, Paul (Laura) Giambra of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jeanmarie Giambra of Sarasota, Florida, William (Michelle) Giambra of Bradenton, Florida. Rose Marie was the grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 5.
In the second chapter of her life, Rose Marie and Sandy maintained residences in Wadsworth, Ohio for the summers and flocked to warm sunny Sarasota, Florida during the winters. She stayed active as part of the Rawiga Golf Club in Ohio and Palm Aire community in Florida and enjoyed weekly mahjong. They explored the world, traveling extensively across the US and through 32 countries internationally.
Rose Marie enjoyed genealogy, tracing her family ancestry back into the 1700s. She has left us all with abundant family history and a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
