Salvatore R. Massa

Salvatore (Sal) R. Massa of Bradenton, FL, born October 21, 1932 in Somerville, MA and a longtime resident of Winthrop, MA passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on February 4, 2021. Sal was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Day Massa and his wife of 18 years, Shirley DiPerna Massa. He was also predeceased by his brothers Louis, Michael and Guy and sister Frances (Marino). Sal is survived by his 7 children, Deborah Krissinger and her partner Joe Larkin, Nancy Heroux and her husband Robert, Susan Buonopane and her husband Michael, Mary Bishop and her husband David, Anne Sullivan and her husband Chris, Sandra Dale and her husband Quinton, and Salvatore Massa Jr. and his fiancé Kim Conlin Hayes. He is also survived by his sister Josephine, brothers John and William, 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Sal was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He treasured time with his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. His love extended well beyond his own home. Friends and family were always greeted with open arms in the Massa house - the more the merrier!

Over the years, Sal earned the title “Life of the Party”. You could always find him singing and dancing at social events, surrounded by the people he loved. His love for song and a fun time was contagious. Even the shy and timid would find themselves caught up in the magic of music and Sal’s relentless attempts to get them to join in. When he had some quiet time, you could find him working on a puzzle, playing the piano, or watching westerns.

Always remember Sal by taking a few minutes to turn up the music, dance and sing in celebration of a life well lived.
