

Winifred C. Hansberry "Winnie", was born, July 13,1941 in Philadelphia, PA to John Milton King and Viola Mary Louden. Winnie graduated from West Catholic Girls School in 1959. She was a member of the Debate Club, Catholic Action Club, Latin Club and National Honor Society.
Every year, Winnie and her siblings, attended Bryant Summer Camp. While in high school, Winnie met her first husband, James "Jimmy" Bradley. They married in 1960 and welcomed their only child, Deborah Ann, on July 7, 1961. They divorced in 1967.
Winnie loved to have fun going to dances with her sister Tootsie and friends. She also danced on American Bandstand many times.
For over 18 years, Winnie, worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She worked very hard to provide a wonderful life for her daughter, Debi and her mother, Viola. While working at the Post Office, she met the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Hansberry. They were married on October 13, 1976. They enjoyed their life together cruising to some of their favorite places (Caribbean, Hawaii, Panama). Every year they spent a month visiting different cities in Florida. They finally settled in Hudson, Fl where they purchased their new home and continued to take care of her mother until her death in 1993. Mike and Winnie celebrated 14 wonderful married years together before Mike’s passing in 1990.
Winnie loved playing slots and meeting her friends at Bingo every Wednesday and Sunday. She also loved reading her books and gossip magazines, baking and keeping her mind sharp doing crossword puzzles.
Her greatest joy was being a grandmother "Mom-Mom" to Ashley and Stephen Michael. She took pride in watching Ashley and Stephen growing up. She loved having fun (marching) and teaching them when they were young how to say their ABC’s, baking cookies and learning all the holiday songs. She was such a “FUN” Mom-Mom. Winnie also loved her many pets throughout her life, Benjamin and Samantha, especially her puppies, Midnight, Rosie and Barron. Winnie was a wonderful mother, daughter, wife, grandmother "Mom-Mom" and friend.
Winnie resided in Hudson, Florida till 2001 when she moved to Beavercreek OH when her grandson Stephen Michael was born. In 2010 she followed her family back to Florida and moved in with her daughter Debi and family in Bradenton, FL.
Winnie enjoyed sitting out on their patio doing crossword puzzles and reading. She also loved watching her favorite TV shows, especially, Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor, and the Game Show channel. In her last few months, Winnie was able to finally meet and hold her precious first Great Grandson Michael James Romano, who currently resides with his mother, in New Bern, NC. She was absolutely thrilled to see his beautiful little face.
After 6 months of suffering a debilitating stroke and diagnosis of cancer, Winnie passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of March 28th.
She was loved by all and will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace Mom.
Winnie is survived by her daughter, Debi (Stephen) Romano; sister, Dolores Groves of Glassboro, NJ, grandchildren: Ashley (Sean) Shugrue and Stephen Michael Romano. Great grandson, Michael Romano and soon-to-be baby Shugrue.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hansberry, parents, and siblings, Joseph Timlin, Betty Koenig, Helen McCrossin, Norma Bonner and Mary Jane Harty.
A viewing will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 from 6-9 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park. 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, Fl. 34203
Viewing and church service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 10-12 PM followed by luncheon at Woodland Community Church. 9607 State Road 70, Bradenton, Fl. 34202.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Grace Memorial Gardens. 16931 US Highway 19 N, Hudson, Fl. 34667
