Born on January 27, 1937, she was a lifelong resident of Sandyston, New Jersey, where she was cherished by many.
Bessie Jane was born on the family farm in Sandyston, New Jersey. Her upbringing instilled in her hard-working spirit and nature and profound love for her land and her animals.
Bessie Jane worked at Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis, NY, where she met her late husband, Richard O'Neill, Sr., of 50 some years and resided on the farm.
Bessie Jane worked side by side with her father taking care of the animals, and on the farm either on a tractor or hay wagon bringing in the crops for the animals.
Plus the farm, she dedicated over 25 years as a bus driver for the Sandyston Board of Education, where she was known for her loyalty to the children she transported each day. Her commitment to her work was unwavering, earning her the admiration of many.
Bessie Jane's contributions to her community were recognized when she was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year in 2008, a testament to her dedication and involvement.
Bessie Jane found joy in farming, planting and tending to her flowers, animals and her pets on the farm.
She is survived by her son, Richard F. O'Neill, Jr. Bessie Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard (Dick) O'Neill; her father, John Raser; and her mother, Winifred Labur Raser.
Bessie Jane will be remembered for her hard-working nature, her devotion to her family, relatives and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love and loyalty that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
