Diane was born on September 29, 1951, in Dover to the late Silvio F. and Florence (Stych) Prandato. Prior to her retirement, Diane was a Secretary for Special Child Health Services in Sussex County for over 25 years. A long-time and active member of Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church, Diane spent many years involved in parish life, especially through her commitment to teaching CCD classes. She found great joy in sharing her faith.
Family was at the heart of Diane’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. A large smile could always be seen on her face as soon as her granddaughters greeted her. Diane also loved holiday gatherings and being able to catch up, share stories and laugh with family members. Outside of her family and church, Diane had a quiet passion for bird watching. She often spent peaceful mornings observing her feathered companions through her windows. Diane greatly enjoyed sewing and was extremely creative. She frequently made beautiful handmade gifts for family and friends. Diane especially enjoyed making extravagant Halloween costumes for her children when they were young and continued making amazing, award-winning costumes for her granddaughters throughout the years as well.
The beloved wife to Daniel Hammond, Diane is also survived by her children, Stephanie Frato and her husband, Lou (Sandyston); her son, Mathew Hammond (Stillwater); her grandchildren, Isabella Stoll, Carleigh Stoll (both of Sandyston) and Madelyne Hammond; her siblings, Florence Diesel and her husband, Drew (Frankford), Mary Cangelosi and her husband, Peter (Washington Twp.); her siblings-in-law, Martha Fabian (Stillwater), Lynn Meyers and Leslie Roy (both in CO) and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
