Doris Jean Bannon
June 17, 1936 – January 19, 2023

Doris Jean Bannon passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Doris was born on June 17, 1937, in Honesdale, PA., and raised in Wayne County, PA. While residing in Matamoras, PA for 35 years, Doris worked as a Dispatcher for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After retiring from the Department of Transportation she worked at Airport Park in Matamoras.
Doris was extremely active in the 4H community, and was a member of the Pike County Historical Society. She thoroughly enjoyed helping others, and took a hands-on approach in her community. Doris volunteered much of her time to delivering for Meals on Wheels and was honored by the Pike County Area Agency on Aging for more than 15 years of volunteer service. Doris and her late husband, Ambrose, were well known and loved in the community often portraying Santa, and Mrs. Claus for more than 30 years.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Viola (Canfield) West; her husband, Ambrose Francis “Frank” Bannon; and her brothers, Joe and Bill. She is survived by her siblings, Ruth, Sally, Kenny and Frank; her children, Dona, Dennis, Danny and David; as well as 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St, Branchville, NJ, funeral services will follow at 7 pm. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
