Born at home in Frankford Township on April 24, 1943 to the late Merlin Shay and Alice Stella (Morris) Heater, Freddie was a life-long Sussex County resident.
Raised on a farm below Sunrise Mountain, he was the operator of Village Service Station, Montague, NJ where he lived with his beloved wife, Mary. In 1970 they moved back to his parents` land to raise their family. In 1971 he started working for NJDOT as a mechanic until his retirement in 2004. In his spare time, Freddie enjoyed gardening, taking care of what needed to be done, harassing his brothers and traveling to see his grandson, Jonah. Freddie had many medical challenges on his path in life and it was amazing to see his strength, toughness and true grit through it all.
