Born on July 7, 1950, in Newton, NJ, to the late Arthur and Julia (Polliak) Fetzer, George was a man of many talents and a beloved husband, father, and brother.
George spent the beginning of his life in Augusta, NJ, on the family dairy farm working and playing. Later, he moved to Newton, where he graduated from Newton High School, despite being courted by High Point High School for his wrestling prowess. He had a career marked by 20 years with the County of Sussex Road Department before retiring. George also spent many years serving as mechanic for his Uncle George’s trucking company, Fetzer Fast Freight. George also owned an autobody and painting business. Demonstrating his strong family values, he dedicated time to working on his brother, Art’s, dairy farm until they decided it was time to hang up their work boots and closed down the farm in 1995.
He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Marie, and together they raised their sons, David "DJ" Fetzer and Jonathan, in a home filled with love in Lake Neepaulin, Wantage, NJ. Later, they moved to Augusta, NJ, to live next door to his brother, Arthur.
George had a passion for grocery shopping, always on the lookout for the best bargains, and he was a frequent visitor to Dollar General. He enjoyed the tranquility of his backyard, watching wildlife emerge from the wood line. A testament to his skills and the unwavering love he had for his sons, George spent countless hours rebuilding his beloved Red Chevy S-10 alongside DJ and Jonathan, each moment spent together strengthening their bond and creating memories that would last a lifetime His involvement with Future Farmers of America and 4H highlighted his commitment to the future of agriculture, a community he cared so deeply for.
George was known for his immense love for his family and his remarkable ability to fix, build, or do just about anything. His intelligence and resourcefulness were matched only by his devotion to those he loved
