George was born on October 10, 1936 in Harlem, NY to the late John and Anette Scott. George grew up in the Bronx and moved to Bergen County, NJ when he was a child where he continued to reside before settling in Montague NJ nearly 20 years ago. George enlisted and served as a Military Police Officer and remained a proud Army Veteran. An avid gym goer his entire life, George enjoyed weight lifting and was a skilled expert at the speed bag. George owned and managed the Orangeburg Pub in the late 70’s, which became well known for the rock and roll bands that he would book. He continued his career in notable bars and restaurants including The Wagon Wheel in Bergenfield, NJ and The 76 House in Tappan, NY. Most recently, George was a bartender at Acquaviva Restaurant and Bar in Wantage NJ. No matter where he was, he had a special talent of making anyone feel like family through his easy going and welcoming nature, and was known for making great drinks and conversations. His stories were legendary! However, his grandchildren were his absolute world and he cherished spending time with them. He was the “Poppa” at every horse show, dance recital, soccer game, and karate match.
The beloved husband of Christine Scott, George is also survived by his daughter, Jerri Desposito (Robert); his grandchildren, Amy Desposito (Douglas Sheroff), Heather Kearns (Michael), Michelle Coughlin (John Malak), Vincent and Lilly Costello, Nicky Prisco-Krape, Lola Gambino and Frankie Gambino; his nieces and nephews, Heather Scott, John Paul Vitale, Nick Vitale, Eddie and Terry Standish, Dorothy Coughlin, Elena and Vinny Costello, Frank Gambino and Julie and Richard Luippold; his siblings, John Scott (Patricia), Elaine Mohan and Michelle Scott, and his great-granddaughter, Emilia Malak.
