Georgia was born on September 17, 1940, in Newton to the late George and Mayona (Pittenger) Thompson. Georgia spent her childhood moving from town to town due to her father’s job. Eventually, her family settled in Sussex County when she was in her teens, and it was there that she would make her home for the rest of her life.
Prior to her retirement, Georgia was a secretary at Picatinny Arsenal for 45 years. Outside of her work, Georgia had many passions that brought joy to her life. She was an avid gardener, finding peace and satisfaction tending to her plants and flowers. She also shared a bond with her beloved poodle, who was a constant companion and source of comfort. Georgia was also a member of the Franklin Revolver and Rifle Association, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.
The beloved wife to the late Donald Freeman, Georgia is survived by her daughter, Beth Wilson and her husband, Ernest; her grandchildren, Alycia Wilson and Bradley Wilson; her great-granddaughter, Sonya Scarcella and her brother, Bill Thompson and his wife, Christine.
