James was born in Newton on March 4, 1988, to the late James and Kelli (Lucey) Harrell. James grew up in Frankford Township before settling in Lafayette over 10 years ago. He was an Operating Engineer with International Union Of Operating Engineers 825.
James had a true outdoorsman spirit; he found joy ripping through mud on his bike, revving up derby cars or riding horseback across open fields. He had a gift for fixing things whether it was engines or tractors, he could bring life back into just about anything.
His farm in Lafayette was something he took great pride in. He worked hard, played harder and always made time to turn up the volume on his favorite tunes and have a little fun. James was a proud father, a loyal friend, and a man whose life was filled with laughter and deep love for simple things. His quick-witted sense of humor always brought happiness to anyone who knew him. His fun personality and deep laugh will be missed most.
James is survived by his beloved children, Greylon, Letty and Lyric; his sister, Devyn Smith (Christopher); his grandparents, John and Cynthia Lucey; his niece and nephew, Charlotte and Waylon and his aunts and uncles, Kiersten Haurey, Patrick Lucey and Salliy Schurich (Frank).
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 AM – 2 PM at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 2 PM at the funeral home.
