Jesse was born on June 25, 1952, in Newton to the late Jesse and Julia (Lantz) Roe. Jesse grew up in Branchville and lived in Hampton Township, Newton, Augusta and Andover Township throughout his life. He was a loving father, pop-pop, partner and friend to many people.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, Jesse dedicated his career to his business. He built All County Office Furniture and Home Furniture Warehouse in Newton from the ground up. Known for his integrity, creativity, and keen eye for design, Jesse’s store became a cornerstone of the community. A proud and active member of the Branchville Businessmen's Club and a leader within his local BNI chapter, Jesse believed deeply in the power of relationships and mutual support.
Jesse lived for live music, especially the music of the Grateful Dead. A self-proclaimed "Deadhead" since the '70s, he found joy and solace in their music. His favorite phrase from one of their songs was, “I ain’t often right but I’ve never been wrong. Seldom turns out the way it does in a song.” When Jesse wasn’t trying to see 100 bands live in one year, he was golfing, riding his bike or planning his next trip. Jesse was also a pitcher with the infamous Branchville Bombers softball team and extended his love of the game to coaching little league.
Jesse is survived by his children, Casey Roe (Brett McLain), Jesse Grant Roe V (Anh-Thu), and Garth Roe (Megan); his loving partner, Linda Swanson; his grandchildren, Silas, Eva and Amber McLain and his siblings, Cindy (Bart), Trish (Denny) and Jeff (Patty) and his many nieces and nephews.
