Born January 9, 1948, in Dover, NJ, Keith was the son of the late Merrill and Ruth (Kagan) Hopler. He was raised in Rockaway, NJ, and formerly resided in Mine Hill, NJ , before settling in Sussex County, where he lived for the past 40 years. Keith proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. His dedication and bravery during his military service reflected his lifelong commitment to hard work, perseverance and loyalty.
After his time in the military, Keith was employed as a crane operator for D.J. Parks, and then later employed at the New Jersey School of Conservation in Sandyston, NJ where he proudly held the position of head supervisor prior to his retirement. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Keith found joy in hunting, fishing, camping and subsistence living. Gardening was one of his greatest passions. Grateful for each day, Keith was always busy, whether tending to his garden, working on projects, or preparing for the next adventure. He enjoyed hosting family and friends for campfires and barbecues, where his love of life brought people together. His deep appreciation for nature inspired all who knew him.
Keith is survived by his daughter, Tammara L. Roe, his son Jason P. Hopler, his brothers, Wayne and Glenn Hopler. He was predeceased by his mother and father, sister Donna Mower, brothers Leslie, Dalton, Virgil and Butch.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held at a later date.
