Cindy was born on April 10, 1957, at WM. Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas, to the late William Eugene Allen and Delia Gavinita (Rodriguez) Allen. Cindy’s father was stationed at the White Sands Missile Range. As there was no maternity ward on base, the closest hospital was in El Paso.
Growing up in a military family, Cindy lived in Germany, New Mexico, and Mississippi. After her father’s retirement, the family moved to Balesville to own and operate a rest home.
Cindy graduated from Newton High School in 1974, where she received enough credits to graduate in 3 years. After graduating, she summered in California with her brother, Rick. When she returned, she was employed at Newton ShopRite for 25 years.
Following her employment at ShopRite, Cindy worked at the NJ School of Conservation in Stokes Forest. Being an avid animal lover, she found joy in feeding the deer and taking photos of wildlife and their environment. Her love for animals went beyond just wildlife, Cindy loved her dogs, Sooner, Cosmo, and Willie. At times, she paid more attention to her dogs than she did herself.
For many years, Cindy touched the hearts of those in need while volunteering for Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels.
Cindy loved sports and excelled in softball. She played center field for Third Base Pub and GT Charlie’s, where her team won the league championship.
Cindy found peace and relaxation living in Culver Lake. If she wasn’t on her paddle boat, you could find her on a sunny Sunday afternoon on her pontoon boat soaking in the summer sun with a cold one in her hand.
Cindy will be missed by many, but most of all, she will be missed by her beloved husband, Lee.
Cindy is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Robert Allen; and a sister, Pamela Allen. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, H. Lee Doremus; her sister, Kathy Allen; her brother, Steve Allen and wife, Margaret; as well as her nieces and nephews, Cole, Jason, Thomas, Gabriel, and Leah Allen.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 12pm-3pm at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville, NJ 07826. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following the visitation.
