I mourn the loss of "Uncle Pete" Varsalona who was a prominent part of my later childhood in Sussex County, NJ. I first got to know "Uncle Pete" during a school trip to Washington, DC where I now live. Soon I got to know him and the Varsalona family through our school wrestling teams, building my family's house with Tony, and summer days and night swimming in the pool at the Varsalona house. Uncle Pete proudly served our country and inspired me to join and maintain my own membership to American Legion Post 157 in Branchville for the past 24 years.
