Owen enjoyed life fully. Those who knew him said he was the most positive, optimistic person they had ever met.
He enjoyed his time in the Air Force in Europe traveling . He enjoyed traveling to go to special events with friends. It was said he never met a social gathering of one of his friends that he didn't like. Owen appreciated fine dining with friends and family.
His friends found him engaged with them in a gathering, although he was very quiet. He
provided a steady and calming presence . He always dressed very dapper. Life was good so he thought he should look good.
And example of his unique goodness: when his first cousin was born in a difficult birth, and the
infant's mother was not able to care for him Owen traveled North to take care of his infant cousin. He continued to do so when child moved to Tampa, watching him for a full year.
Owen loved his daughter Teresa and her family unconditionally. He was faithful to them.
Teresa said about Owen how blessed she was to have him as her father; she could not imagine
life without him. Neither can we.
Every once in a while in our lives we meet someone who radiates an inner light. They seem to
be deeply good. Owen was that person. They listen well. They make you feel valued. Owen was that friend. Owen did not think about the wonderful work he was doing. Owen did not think about himself at all. He was a truly humble person following in the footsteps of his Savior Jesus. Like Jesus he had a generosity of Spirit and a depth of Character. Owen was a person who said “Yes” when Jesus asked him to contribute his time and effort and talent to serve others. Owen was Special. He didn't think about himself as much as he thought about what he could do for others, and because of this he was an outstanding example of a true disciple of Jesus.... a true Christian that we were privileged to have known.
Simply put, Owen was a good man who made the world a better place.
Thank you, Owen.
