Born in Newport, Rhode Island on September 18, 1918, Al Oliver joined the Navy at 17 years of age to learn electronics and radio operation. A Peral Harbor Survivor, Al served his country with distinction throughout WWII as Chief radioman aboard the USS Maryland and USS Warton.
After the war, Al joined the electronics pioneers of the pre-silicon valley era, founding Oliver Electronics in Daly City and South San Francisco, California. Never shy, Al was always right in the middle of a good political debate. His know-how and can-do attitude never left him. He amazed friends and family alike with his ability to repair or fix anything!
Al is survived by his wife, Helga, his daughter Dorothy,and grandson Todd. He also leaves behind a sister, niece and nephew and Stepson Frank and daughter-in-law Jeanna.
