

"Baker was born in Dutch Mills, Arkansas, to Eliga Palmore and Myrtle Ann (BAKER) HALL. The family moved to nearby Lincoln where Baker spent most of his childhood. He joined the military service January 6, 1941, and was honorably discharged from the Army on October 8, 1945. He was a Heavy Machine Gunner in WWII and participated in the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley Campaigns.
"After leaving the Army, Baker moved to Byron and worked on the Delta-Mendota Canal. Baker married Reba Leona HOLLAND on December 30, 1950, and they moved to Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg. At that time, he worked at the Naval Weapons Station in Concord. In 1953, they moved to Brentwood and he began his career at Fiberboard/Louisiana-Pacific where he worked for 30 years.
"Baker enjoyed growing tomatoes, doing crossword puzzles, playing games and visiting with family, playing with his cats and dogs, watching the birds outside of his window.
"He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, stillborn son Lindal Arthur HALL; brothers, Lewis Daniel and Ralph Ferrel HALL; and sisters, Virgie Beatrice and Eveline Maude HALL, and Grace Edith (HALL) FRAZIER.
"He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Jack) BROWN of Antioch and Karen (Christopher) POHL of Union City; granddaughters Heather BROWN of Antioch, Melissa POHL of San Francisco and Jennifer POHL of Los Angeles; great granddaughter Kaylee BROWN of Antioch; and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Betty MOORE who took care of him for the last few years when he was unable to take care of himself."
