

Bernice Mabel Jones Resident of Martinez Bernice (Mabel) Jones was called home to be with her lord on June 3, 2011. She was born to her Christian parents, Berthal and Frank Morrison on August 21, 1913 in Hartford, Arkansas. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Oklahoma, where she lived all her young adult life. In 1929 she married Orland Day, who died 7 years later. During their brief time together their daughter Bonnie Faye was born. In 1939 Bernice married Clyde Jones, and then another daughter, Joyce Lourene was added to their family. In 1942 she moved with her husband and two daughters to Martinez, Ca. Bernice was an active member of the First Baptist church in Martinez. She was a Sunday school teacher and serviced on the board. She was a wonderful homemaker, but was a dress shop manager for 18 years as well. In 1971 her and Clyde retired to Pollack Pines, Ca. where again she was a proud member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed church functions, like The Ambassador's Club, playing games with friends, any and all activities with her family, cleaning, and cooking. She was a great cook, but a fantastic pie maker!! Her and Clyde always had a huge garden, and beautiful yards. They traveled in their 5th wheel, had many fun fishing trips, and enjoyed family gatherings at their cabin in Gerle Creek. Bernice always tried to be independent so she lived by herself for over 20 years after the death of her beloved husband Clyde. For the last three years Bernice lived in Brentwood, Ca. to be closer to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Aguiar (Louis) of Concord, Ca. brother Duke Morrison, of Stigler, Ok. Granddaughter Deborah Joseph (Gary) of Brentwood, Ca. grandsons Brad Norseth, of Oakland, Ca. Steven Norseth (Renee) of Fremont, Ca. and Pam Gifford (Steve) of Escalon, Ca. Great grandchildren Jarrett Joseph, of Brentwood, Ca. Matthew Joseph, of Dublin, Ca. Kaleb, Abigil, and Cooper Nordseth, of Fremont, Ca. and Sarah Hall of San Diego, Ca. Sister-in-law Bernice Wise (Jack) of Oregon, and many more nieces, nephews, and close friends. Her daughter, Joyce Norseth, sister, Oleda Lackey, and husbands Orland Day and Clyde Jones predeceased her in death. Bernice was a deeply religious mother and nana, who witnessed to her family, and friends on a regular basis. She was loved and blessed our lives for nearly 98 years. We will miss her! We would like to thank Ellen and Wes Russell, Juanita, Sylvia, Flo, and Elli for their gentle care at Lifetime Care home in Brentwood. Funeral services will he held on Thursday June 9, 2011 at 1:00p.m. at Brentwood Funeral Home on 839 First Street in Brentwood. A graveside service will be held on Friday June 10th at 2:00 p.m. in Placerville at the Union Cemetery.
