David Manuel Spearman passed away peacefully at Kaiser Permanente on May 13, 2026, in Antioch, California, at the age of 79. David is survived by his loving wife, Manila Ruby Spearman; stepchildren Stephen Ruiz, Clint Ruiz, and Lee Bernarte; his sister Debbie Ridle; his cousin Stanley Pereira; lifelong friends Joyce Pilati and Bobby Aguiar; and many more friends from the local senior community center.
David and his wife shared 12 wonderful years of marriage after first meeting through a mutual friend in 2014. Together, they enjoyed traveling on multiple cruises throughout Mexico and taking trips to casinos throughout California, creating many cherished memories together.
David was born on August 23, 1946, in Stockton, CA to his late mother Dorothy Diaz. He graduated from Liberty Union High School in 1965, where he focused on agriculture. Throughout his life, David worked many different careers and was known for his strong work ethic. He spent years as a truck driver, bartender, and later served as a foreman for the Brentwood Union Cemetery before retiring.
David had a deep love for dogs and animals. He considered his dog Vegas his best friend for many years until his passing. His love for pets inspired him to start a local pet-sitting business in the Brentwood area after retirement, where he enjoyed caring for the pets of others and connecting with members of the community.
Visitation will be held at Brentwood Funeral Home, on June 5, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Graveside at Union Cemetery, 11545 Brentwood Blvd, at 11:30 am.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kaiser Permanente for the care and compassion they provided during David’s final moments.
