

Dennis J. Caldwell, 65, husband of Cheryl K. Caldwell of Brentwood, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at UCSF Hospital in San Francisco from complications due to his 44-year battle with lupus. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born December 18, 1953 in Oakland, CA, he was the son of Mary A. Wildmon and the late Edward J. Caldwell.
Dennis attended Amador Valley High School before joining the military in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. Dennis returned to California to attend San Jose State University where he received his B.S. degree in Aeronautical Operations. He lived in Pleasanton, CA for 13 years before moving to Colorado in 1992 while working as a hospital equipment maintenance technician with AMSCO for 13 years. Dennis moved to Brentwood, CA in 2011 and married his devoted wife and best friend, Cheri, in 2012. As a disabled veteran, Dennis dedicated his life to raising his kids. He loved coaching basketball and baseball for his children and youth in the community. He was one of the co-founders of the congregation at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Livermore, CA. Dennis loved to nourish everyone with his love and his deep faith in his Lord.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Edward James Caldwell (85); and his grandson, Bryce Edward Caldwell (6).
Dennis is survived by his wife Cheryl of Brentwood, CA; his sons Dennis II (Amanda), Jeremy (Suzanne), and John (Erin); his daughter Katelyn (Trueman III); his stepson Christopher (Jorja); his stepdaughter Lisa; his mother and stepfather Mary and Weldon, and stepmother Genevieve; 5 grandsons, Tyler, Carson, Ryder, Caleb, and Trueman IV; and granddaughter, Brynlee. He is also survived by his brother Michael, sister Donna, stepsisters Elaine (David), stepbrothers David (Lynne) and Ted (Sandy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 486 South J Street, Livermore, CA. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1020 Mocho Street, Livermore, CA.

Dennis was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. His kindness was unmatched and his ability to make others laugh will always be remembered.
