Our hearts are forever changed by the loss of Dominic Anthony Starkenberg Ferrari, our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, who passed away on September 13, 2026, at the tender age of 17 following a tragic car accident.
Dominic was deeply loved by his family, his friends, his classmates, and so many people whose lives he touched along the way. From the time he was little, he was known for his smile, his laughter, his jokes, and the energy he brought with him wherever he went. He loved being around people, making memories, and having a good time. Many of his friends became like family, and since his passing, the stories, messages, and overwhelming amount of love shared for Dominic have shown us just how deeply he was loved in return.
Dominic was a senior at Liberty High School. He participated in track and field his freshman year and played football his sophomore year. During the spring semester of his freshman year, he surprised us by taking ukulele. We loved hearing him play at home, even if it was often the same songs over and over again. We think he enjoyed it more than he wanted to admit, because during his senior year, he chose to take the class again.
He also took ceramics, and we are so grateful to have pieces of his work around our home that will now be cherished forever. Dominic was also known for his random drawings, whether they were in birthday cards, drawings of his friends, or simply something he thought was funny.
As he grew older, fitness became one of Dominic’s biggest passions. He loved going to the gym, especially with his friends. If he wasn’t at the gym, he was usually hanging out with them, making plans for new hangouts, playing video games, or simply enjoying being young and having fun. Even after coming home from the gym, he could often be found on his exercise bike while playing video games.
Dominic was still figuring out what he wanted his future to look like, but we never doubted that he would find his way. Whatever he chose, we knew he would excel once he set his mind to it.
Dominic is survived by his loving parents, Stephanie and Gino Ferrari, his sister, Sophia Ferrari, his grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and countless friends and loved ones who will carry him with them forever.
There are no words that could ever fully describe the void Dominic’s sudden loss has left in our hearts. Seventeen years was nowhere near enough time with him, and we will spend the rest of our lives wishing we had been given more.
We hope Dominic will always be remembered for his humor and laughter, his love for his family and friends, the memories he created, and the joy he brought into the lives of the people who loved him.
We will always miss him.
We will always remember him.
We will always speak his name.
And most of all, we will always love him.
Until the day we are together again, we will carry Dominic with us in the stories we tell, the memories we share, and the love he left behind.
We love you, our sweet Dominic. Forever and always. 💙
