

Violet Irene Rutherford was born on June 18, 1924 and entered into her rest on May 1, 2022. She was 97 years old. Irene graduated from Liberty High School. During the war Irene would go to the naval hospital to visit the wounded in the burn ward. After World War II, she and her husband worked opposing shifts so they did not need to leave their daughter in childcare. She was a housewife for most of her married life. She worked at a nursery school part time when her kids were older. Her love of children made this more like a hobby. Irene was active in PTA, led Brownies and Girl Scouts, was an active part of Women’s Club and the Antiques Club. Irene was an artist and this talent showed in her beautiful yards and the clothes she made for family. She made hundreds of dolls that she sold at craft fairs and gave many away to organizations like fire department, police department, schools, veterans, hospitals and other non profits. She was always ready to give food to those in need and help neighbors however she could. Irene loved to travel, enjoy the scenery and to learn about the way of life on those trips. Mom and dad enjoyed boating for many years. She is survived by her three daughters, Jane Felton, Sharon Farmer (Paul), and Janice Tadevich (Steve). She leaves 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, William Rutherford, her parents, Earl and Opal Becker, her sister Maxine and her brother Bud. She is survived by her sister Bobbie Scoggins.
