James (Jim) Hugh Finley, Sr., 74, of Brentwood, California passed away peacefully Friday, September 16, 2016 at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA. He was born in Henderson, TN to James and Mabel Finley in 1941. While he spent most of his youth in the South, he enjoyed living, working, and raising his family for the last 36 years in Pleasanton and Brentwood, CA. Jim enjoyed golfing with the Roosters, he was an avid reader, and loved traveling across the country with his family. There were very few people with whom he connected who didn’t consider him a fast friend. Jim retired in 2007 after a long and industrious career in the Elevator Industry; he worked for Dover Elevator and was later a principal partner at Hesselberg Keesee & Associates. His influence in the industry was far reaching. He was a wonderful father to Jake Finley and Beth Finley Boyer and adored his three grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron and Kennedy. He was married to his wife and best friend, Linda Moore Finley for fifty four years until her death in April 2016. His family is comforted knowing he is reunited with his sweetheart in Heaven and that the ribs and golf are just like he liked them there. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on September 23, 2016 at the Brentwood Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow at the Finley residence in Brentwood, CA.
