Joe Lynn Smith

Joe was born in Shawnee, OK to Oscar and Opal Smith, on 01/06/1930. Joe was married to Joyce Smith for 68 years. Their passion for golf, the outdoors and mountain life took them from residing in Brentwood to residing at Pine Mountain Lake in Groveland after Joe’s retirement from Dupont. After 35 years of employment, Joe and Joyce enjoyed their life in the mountains, playing golf and entertaining.

He was a graduate of East Central University in Ada, OK where he excelled in all sports including baseball, pole vaulting, track and basketball. He went on to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame at East Central University. Joe had a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He was very active in the community of Brentwood and Pine Mountain Lake. To name a few, he was on the Oakley Volunteer Fire Dept. and Liberty H.S. School Board for 10 years.

Joe and Joyce moved back to Brentwood in October 2020, to be close to family; both residing at Westmont of Brentwood.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Joyce of 68 years, daughters Janet Hueber (Brad), Stayce Burns (Gary), 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Stanley Smith (Karen).

He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
