John C. Rego

John, the eldest of 5 children was born on June 30, 1950. John and his 4 siblings led a ranching life with his parents John and Mary Rego in Byron, CA.

John attended Byron Elementary and Liberty Union High School graduating in 1968. John furthered his education at Modesto J.C. and continued to California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo graduating with a bachelor's in ornamental horticulture in 1973.

John began his career with the City of Concord parks department in 1973 holding various positions and retiring as a park manager in 2009 after 36 years. John enjoyed retirement by traveling with family and friends across Europe and South America.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Mary. He is survived by his siblings, Jerry of South Carolina, Mary (Mike) of Discovery Bay, Jim (Ginger) of El Dorado Hills and Debbie (John) of Walnut Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2800 Camino Diablo Road, Byron. He will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery, Brentwood.
