

Lenard was born August 7, 1920, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Marion "Andrew" and Louise Fluty. He was raised on a farm with his four brothers and sister. In his early 20's he came to California working various jobs and trades. This helped him land his favorite job as a stationary engineer at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek where he worked for many years before retiring.
Lenard was a kind and helpful man with the ability to fix anything. Because of his helping nature, he had many friends. He enjoyed working on his ranch, fixing cars and tractors and attending Heritage Baptist Church. During WWII Lenard was a Merchant Marine. He shipped out on both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Lenard married the love of his life Lorene (Flannery) Fluty on February 19, 1942. They were married for 58 years up until her passing in 2000.
Lenard was predeceased by his wife Lorene, his son Glen Fluty, his grandson David Candler, his brothers Ulan, Olan, Calvin, and Floyd. He is survived by his children Lenard (Ray) Fluty, Philip &Sandy Fluty, Kathleen Findlay, Ruby Salinas, sister Peggy Jennings, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Lenard, better known as Pop, will be remembered by all for his kindness, generosity, and love of his family and friends.
