Born in Benton, Iowa on September 27, 1925, Martha passed away at home in Discovery Bay, California on March 2, 2012.
Known as Marty, Mrs. Parker was a devoted wife to her husband Frank, who passed away in 2010, for 65 years. She leaves behind two children, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. “Grammy” will be greatly missed by her entire family and all of her many friends.
She was an extraordinary homemaker and known as the “quickest chef in the West.” Company was always welcome and without notice she could prepare an entire meal for large numbers of people in a few minutes. Her home was always immaculate and she always took pride in making everyone feel comfortable. After raising her two children, Marty had a successful career in Los Angeles as a credit manager in the food industry.
While typically shy, Marty was always friendly. She was an incredibly kind and loving person. Both she and her husband were generous people who thought of others first and were involved in charities such as supporting disadvantaged children in foreign countries and helping veterans organizations.
Marty and her husband loved “road trips,” and once retired they frequently traveled around the U. S. Interestingly, they didn’t care as much for typical tourist sites, and much preferred talking and getting to know other travelers or local folks in small coffee shops. In recent times Marty loved spending time in Florida with family and even went on cruises to places such as Aruba, Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Alaska.
Never seeking nor wanting attention for herself, Marty was giving and selfless. She never asked for anything, but gave everything.
Arrangements under the direction of Brentwood Funeral Home, Brentwood, CA.
