Mirlena Elizabeth Diaz

Mirlena (Betsy) Diaz of Brentwood, California passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at her home in Brentwood. Betsy died shortly after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Born in Lima, Peru on October 26, 1956 to Victor & Rosa Torres, Betsy graduated in 1975 from Oceana High School in Pacifica, California. Betsy was a lead dispatcher for Comcast, where she worked for the past 20 years. A two time breast cancer survivor, Betsy was the most amazing, dedicated mother to her 3 children and the most loving and giving wife to her husband Lou and the greatest friend. Betsy had the biggest heart. She opened her home to those in their time of need and often became mom to her 3 nieces. The most important thing to her was to see those she loved happy and she did everything in her power to make that happen. She was funny, brave, strong and incredibly expressive with her love and had the most contagious smile. She was a beautiful soul inside and out and will be deeply missed by us all. She is now at peace and has been reunited with her late son, Jonathan Krainock.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Luis (Lou) Diaz & her daughters Kristie Wittenberg and Kelly Owens, her daughter in-law, Christine Malloy and their children. She is also survived by her parents, Victor & Rosa Torres along with her siblings Victor Torres Jr, Gus Torres & Monica Torres Hersch.

There will be a mass held in Betsy's honor on Friday, June 29th 2012 at

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 11:00am
