Pauline (Polly) Marie Busche Longchamp, 83, was born in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, October 27, 1936 the daughter of Frank and Francis (Goeller) Busche. She passed away July 1, 2020 in Walnut Creek, California.
Polly grew up on a 300 acre farm in central Missouri with her parents, brother Norbert, and sisters Irene and Margaret. They raised corn as a crop, and lived self-sufficiently by raising cattle, hogs, and chickens, as well as gardening and tending their orchard. Polly graduated from high school at 16 and moved to Jefferson City to begin working. She lived in a boarding house with her older sister, Irene, until Irene died of leukemia at the age of 21. She soon moved to St. Louis. She took a modeling course and worked as a model for several years, while simultaneously working as a secretary until her marriage to Ernest Edward Longchamp at the age of 29. They moved to California where Polly worked as a stenographer and later legal secretary until she retired in 1992.
Polly overcame and endured a variety of very serious medical conditions with determination, strength, and perseverance. There is a phrase, “stubborn as a Missouri mule”. That describes her well. She did not complain about her difficulties, but dealt with them gracefully and patiently.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Caputi and her husband Claude of Concord; Granddaughter Maria Morales and husband Tona, Grandson Salvatore Caputi and wife Clare: Granddaughters, Sophia, Serafina, Gabriella and Francesca and Grandsons, Carmelo, Nicolas, Valerius and Rocco; nephew Richard Busche and wife Marilyn; nieces, Linda Boss and husband Wade; Becky Mackey and husband Steve; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, two brothers, Joseph Busche and Norbert Busche, and two sisters, Irene Busche and Margaret Wibberg.
Her Vigil will be held on July 14, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First St, Brentwood, California; with the rosary beginning at 6:00 pm.
