Born on August 6, 1943 in Concord, California, Sharon was the daughter of Francis Savage and Anne Savage (Stewart). She grew up in Concord and graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1960. That same year, she met the love of her life, Bob McDonald. They married on July 3, 1965, began their family in Concord in 1972, and moved to Discovery Bay in 1976, where they built a life filled with love and laughter for nearly sixty years.
Sharon began working in administration at age 18, starting with DuPont and later spending 28 years at Teamsters Local 315 in Martinez, retiring as office manager in 2000. She led by example, showing her daughter the value of hard work, honesty, loyalty, and family — while also encouraging independence, self-expression, and a love of beauty in nature.
Her favorite role came later in life: Grandma. With the birth of her three grandsons — Cole, Mason, and Wyatt — Sharon took on her “new job” with devotion and joy, caring for and nurturing each one throughout her retirement. She made them a priority and embraced every moment with them.
Sharon loved to travel, both across the U.S. and abroad, sharing countless adventures with family and friends. She had a gift for creating a beautiful home, a talent for cooking, and a practical elegance that left a lasting impression. Most recently, she brought her family to Hawaii — a trip full of memories they will always cherish. She never missed a milestone or celebration, always showing up with love, support, and her signature sunglasses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Savage and Anne Savage (Stewart); her brother Hugh Savage; stepfather Bill Stewart; in-laws Lloyd and Helen McDonald; and brother-in-law Terry McDonald who passed only 3 days after Sharon.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob McDonald; her daughter Katie and son-in-law Brent DeuPree; and her grandsons Cole, Mason, and Wyatt. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Loretta Savage; her brother Richard Savage and his wife Jane; her sister Sue Fowler and husband David; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and lifelong friends.
