Ann Allen Robinson

Ann Allen Robinson, 86, died at her home on Friday, Nov. 23 after a lengthy illness. A native of Enid, Oklahoma, she was married to Roscoe R. “Ike” Robinson, MD, who served as Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs from 1981 until 1997. The two were married until his death in 2004. Vanderbilt and friends recognized the couple’s contributions to the university by the establishment in his name of two endowed chairs, a lectureship, and a library collection. In addition, the Ann and Roscoe Robinson Medical Research Building was named in their honor. Mrs. Robinson, a longtime supporter of Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, also held many positions in local civic organizations. She served as a Regent at the Ladies’ Hermitage Association, a board member of the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and as a co-chair of the Iroquois Steeplechase. She was also a member of the Centennial Club of Nashville, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of America and Junior League of Nashville. Mrs. Robinson is preceded in death by her husband, her brother, John Allen of Enid, Oklahoma, and her parents, Jerome and Nadine Allen, Enid, Oklahoma. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Robinson Solberg (John) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Brooke Robinson of Nashville; two grandchildren, John Robinson Solberg (Kristin) of Nashville and Sarah Allen Solberg of Baltimore; and three great grandchildren, Owen Ross Reed of Baltimore, Avery Fulton and Huxley Robinson Solberg of Nashville. Memorial service will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Road, Nashville, Monday November 26,2018 at 2:30 p.m. A reception/visitation will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
