Born on April 28, 1933, in Nashville, Betty was the daughter of the late Herschel and Francis Swain. A lifelong resident of Nashville, she graduated from Central High School and built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
On November 22, 1953, Betty married William A. Mays Jr. in her hometown. They shared a loving marriage until his passing, and together they raised their daughter with kindness, strength, and enduring values.
Betty is survived by her devoted daughter, Debbie Shirley (Paul), and her beloved granddaughter, Chelsea Shirley Borck (Nathaneal).
Betty leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
