Betty Jo Townsend

Betty Jo Short Townsend, age 84, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was born on September 16, 1938 in Vero Beach, FL to parents, Nerene B. Washington and Charles Sydney Washington. Betty was a devoted and loving wife to Charles L. Townsend for 46 years. Together they had 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild whom they loved and adored.

Betty Townsend traveled the world as a military wife making many life time friends along the way. If you had the opportunity to meet Betty you knew she loved to cook, sew, bluegrass and country music, dancing, the Braves, Wheel of Fortune, the beach and her beloved state of Florida.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Brenda Jones, Cathy (Rick) Gentry, Patricia (Jeff) Cooper and Derri (Zack) Davisson; one son, Charles (Michelle) Townsend Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kili), Hannah (Acie), Amber (Jason), Joe (Katy), John, Rebecca, Robert (Jennifer), Madi (Connor), Grant and Riley; Great-Grandchildren, Rainier, Angelina, Jaylen, Chris, Kayleigh (Tyler), Aly, Hayleigh, Ryleigh, Bryce, Jack, and soon to be Great-Granddaughter or Grandson, Townsend.; one Great-Great-Grandson, Cole.
