Born on November 2, 1955, in Lima, Ohio, David - known as “Win” to his parents, sister, and childhood friends - was spirited from the very beginning. Mischievous, curious, and always in pursuit of fun, he formed lifelong friendships wherever he went. His childhood was filled with adventure, including an unforgettable collection of pets - among them a raccoon, a snake, baby rabbits, and a crow known for stealing ice from his father’s cocktails. Summers spent on Cape Cod became another defining chapter of his youth, where he continued his lifelong habit of finding both fun and enduring friendships.
David graduated from Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After beginning college in Vermont, he returned home to earn a degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati in 1978.
His professional journey eventually led him to Memphis, Tennessee, where in 1984 he began a lifelong friendship and business partnership with Joe Bankemper. Together they founded Express Courier, building it into a groundbreaking company in the courier industry. In 2006, they sold Express Courier, and in 2009 launched their next venture, Confirm Choice. Their partnership was built on trust, excellence, commitment - and plenty of fun. Joe remained one of David’s closest friends and steadfast companions through his final days.
In 1985, David met the love of his life, Sabrina Curtis, at Caramba restaurant in Memphis, where she was the manager and David was a frequent guest. Living in the same condo building just above the restaurant, their story began with laughter, friendship, and a shared sense of adventure. They later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where they built their life together. Joe soon joined them, and Express Courier’s head office relocated as well. When David and Joe began their next chapter with Confirm Choice, several beloved colleagues - Joi, Angie, and Laura - followed, a testament to the loyalty and culture David helped create.
David treasured friendships from every stage of his life and had a story for every one of them. While he was a successful entrepreneur and loyal friend, his greatest joy was being Sabrina’s husband and a devoted father to Allison and Win. His newest and brightest joy was his granddaughter, Eloise Lea “Ellie” Fromke. As “Davo,” he delighted in every moment with Ellie and cherished the time they spent together in the past nine months.
Later in life, David discovered an unexpected passion for the outdoors. Though a city boy from Cincinnati, he fell in love with the woods and hunting. On Bluewater Road in Hickman County, he once again built deep friendships and endless stories. He purchased land, built his dream home, and even made sure a pond was created on the property (much to Bob’s surprise). He became something of a local legend and was grateful to spend his final days there, surrounded by his Bluewater friends and family.
David was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Joyce Temple, and his mother-in-law, JoAnn Curtis.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost forty years, Sabrina Curtis Temple; daughter Allison Temple Fromke (Michael); son William Winfield Temple (Ansley); granddaughter Eloise Lea Fromke; father David Bruster Temple; father in law Travis Curtis; sister Susan Temple Meyer; brother and sister-in-law Johnny and Kelly Curtis; nephew Win Meyer (Melissa); nieces Elise Fritz (Trevor), Nicole Baxter (Brayden), and Morgan Cupples (Camron) and his sidekicks, Reese and Bella.
David’s life was defined by loyalty, laughter, storytelling, and love. The friendships he built, the businesses he created, and the family he cherished will continue to carry his spirit forward.
