Doris “Dodie” Grindley Pridgen, age 82 of Nashville, TN died Friday, January 31. Survived by husband, Dick Pridgen, children Niki (David) Smith, Pamela (Taylor) Fausset, Rick (Kristin) Pridgen, Sandy Behling, ten grandchildren, one great grandson, sister Janice (Jack) Hawkins, brother-in-law Bob Mason, sister-in-law Faye Grindley and many generations of nieces and nephews.
Dodie was an inspiration to us all with her strong faith and compassionate nature. She was an accomplished and gifted seamstress and a great cook. She loved nature and travelling to explore different cultures. During her time working in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt, she coordinated the residency program and developed strong relationships with the pediatricians in town for her grandchildren. Since retiring, she enjoyed time reading and was an avid follower of nearly every sport, particularly tennis and golf. She spent her last days keeping up with the Australian Open.
Visitation will be at Belmont Church, 68 Music Square E, Nashville on Wednesday, February 5 from 2-3 with a service following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to muscular dystrophy research.
