Dorothy Roselia Hewlett HOWARD

Dorothy (Dorothea) Leslie Hewlett Howard, 97 years old, Nashville, TN She was born in Belmopan, Belize on December 23, 1923 to the late, Edgar Valentine and Dorothea Roselia Leslie Hewlett. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death, Wilson L. Howard II (husband), Calvert Michael Hewlett (brother), Agnes Leslie Parker (sister). She married Wilson L. Howard in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 6th, 1943. Dorothy was the McDonogh 35 High School Valedictorian. After high school, She graduated with a teaching degree from Xavier University, New Orleans, Louisiana.

She worked for many years as an Elementary School Teacher, Private Seamstress, and later had her own Tailor Shop. Dorothy love the Opera, Symphony, The Lawrence Welk Show, Dancing, Running and Track and was a member of the Saint Louis Cathedral Lady’s Sodality.

Dorothy was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and devoted wife. She encouraged education and sparked interest in travel in her children, wanting them to experience the world through stories from her travels. She always enjoyed her afternoon tea, as was custom in her home country.

She is survived by: Dorette Marie Howard (daughter), Rhondalyn H. Singh Tanwar (daughter), Wilson L. Howard III (son), Teresa Francis Howard (daughter-in-law), Hewlett Joseph Howard (son), Courtney Clark Howard (daughter-in-law), Rhondje M. Singh Tanwar (grandson), Eeleyah A. Singh Tanwar (granddaughter), Wilson L. Howard IV (grandson), Reena Howard (granddaughter).

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 601 Bell Rd, Antioch, TN 37013 with a Rosary Service an hour prior. A private Graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
