Eugene O'Neil Rains

Gene was educated in Nashville, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1947.As a young man he worked as a bank clerk in Nashville and moved with his family to the tamps Florida area in 1950. He studied accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1957 with a public practice in Brandon, Florida. Gene returned to Nashville in 1967 where he was in public practice for many Years. He was a coin collector, stamp collector and enjoyed local and natural history. He was also a genealogical researcher and maintained extensive correspondence with others researching family lines.

Gene is survived by his wife, LucInda Rains of Brentwood, his son and daughter-in-law William and Rhonda Rains of Maryville, TN, step-son and daughter-in-law Paul and Martha Dickens of Glen Allen, VA, granddaughter, Leigha Dickens of Ashville, NC and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil James Rains and Margaret Lombard Rains and by siblings William Jay Rains, Jackson Dennison Rains and Margaret Rains Eagen.

A private graveside service will be at Mt. Olivet Saturday morning, August 30, 2014. Visitation with the family will be held at 11 o’clock in the narthex of Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Road with Memorial Service to follow in the chapel of Brentwood United Methodist Church at 12 o’clock.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Health Center at the Heritage in Brentwood and of Guardian Hospice for their care and support of Mr. Rains.
