Frances Irene Acuff

Irene was born on June 19, 1947, to Jasper and Frances Acuff and spent her entire life in Nashville. She attended David Lipscomb Elementary School and graduated from David Lipscomb High School (now Lipscomb Academy). She attended Lipscomb University.

Irene, along with her parents, owned Acuff Bridal Salon until the death of her mother. Irene was also a partner in Friends, Flowers & Gifts in Green Hills, and spent the last years of her career as Manager of 21st Century Christian Bookstore.

Irene loved to travel and spent time throughout her life traveling in the United States and Europe. She loved trips to New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and European cities. She excelled at finding great bargains and always brought treats for her friends.

She was a member of Otter Creek Church, Brentwood, and she enjoyed volunteering for the Wayne Reed Christian ChildCare Center, Lipscomb University, and chaired the Italian Street Fair to benefit The Nashville Symphony,

Irene was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her stepmother, Betty Acuff, and step-sister, Billie Payne. She leaves many friends to grieve her passing, but with great memories of time spent with her. They were all blessed to know her.

Thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice who provided excellent care for the last two years of her life.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 3:00pm on the Southside of Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 THompson Lane, Nashville,TN 37204.
