Frances Lee Crawford

Frances was born in Decatur, AL and grew up in Columbia, TN. Her parents were Jordan T. Walker and Annie Frances Lee Walker. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Alvin S. Crawford also from Columbia,TN.

Frances was also preceded in death by her oldest son Tom who is survived by his wife Chris (Charleston, SC) and their two children Walton Hoover, and Thomas Crawford II (wife Catherine) both of whom live in Columbia, SC.

She is survived by her two other sons, Jeff Crawford of Brentwood, TN and Randy Crawford of Hillsborough, NC. Jeff and his wife Lucy have two grown children Courtney Windham (husband Rick) of Nashville, TN, and Betsy Denami (husband Will) who live in Franklin, TN. Randy and his wife Rebekah are the parents of Rena Crawford of Pacific Grove, CA and Ryan Crawford of Chicago, IL.

Frances lived to enjoy knowing her six great grandchildren: Tristan and Drew Windham (Courtney and Rick), Bodie Hoover (Walton), William and Annie Denami (Betsy and Will), and Ruby Crawford (Thomas and Catherine).

Frances graduated from the University of Tennessee and married immediately afterward. They lived several places during Al’s residency before settling in Bristol, TN where Dr. Crawford served as pathologist at Bristol Memorial Hospital for 27 years.

After raising their family Frances earned a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University and had a brief career in counseling services for the Commonwealth of Virginia and then as guidance counselor at Sullins College in Bristol, VA before retiring with her Al to Hilton Head Island, SC. After 13 wonderful years there they relocated to Brentwood, TN to be closer to family.

A private family service to celebrate Frances' life will be held at a later date.
