

He worked for the State of Tennessee for several years. He spent time with Washington Inventory Service and later opened his own Inventory Service for retail stores. He also had a contract with Smart Cart to provide cart rentals at Nashville Airport. In 1996, he had an accident resulting in a disability for life. After two years of recovery, he obtained employment with Brentwood Stor-N-Lok Self Storage where he worked until passing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie R. Chelton and his second wife, Inez Chelton. Two sisters, Jeanette Beish and Mona Herman of Conroe, TX, brother, James Chelton of Spring Hill, TN.
He is survived by two daughters, Stacey (William) Derochie of Hiawassee, GA, Shain (Marcus) Grissom of Decatur, TN, and one son, Jeffery Chelton of Gallatin, TN and three stepchildren. He has several grandchildren and step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Richard (Suzzanne) Chelton of Conroe, TX and Kenneth (Mary Lynn) Chelton of Sprague, NE, several nieces, nephews and sister-in-law, Helen.

The visitation will be Thursday August 14, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, TN following the service.
