Jack Johnson

O. J. (Jack) Johnson, 91, of Nashville passed away on July 30, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy Bartee Johnson, his daughter Deborah Taylor (Bill) and grandson John Wesley Taylor. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother Axel Fred Johnson Sr. and Lucy Broom Johnson, his Brother Axel Fred Johnson Jr. and Sister Margie Johnson Buccellato. Born on September 26, 1926, In Clarksville, Tennessee, Mr. Johnson was educated in the Montgomery County school system. While a senior in high school, he was drafted into the armed forces. This was during World War II. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper where he test jumped parachutes completing nineteen successful jumps. After receiving an honorable discharge he attended Austin Peay State University followed by a distinguished career in human resources management. He was employed by Frosty Morn Meats Inc., Clarksville, Tennessee, for seventeen years, in 1967, he joined Blue Bell Boots of Nashville, Tennessee (a division of Blue Bell, Inc., of Greensboro, North Carolina) where he was employed as Personal Director until 1975. From 1975 to 1985, he was employed as regional Director of personnel/ Labor Relations for the Coca Cola Bottling Company of Nashville (a division of Womanco Enterprises Miami Florida). This regional director’s position was responsible for five middle Tennessee bottling plants (Nashville, Springfield, Lebanon, Dickson, and Columbia) and one vending operation. After retiring from Coca-Cola, He joined his wife, Dorothy, in the management of their recruiting firm, Dorothy Johnson's Career Consultant, Where he continued to work until the company was sold. Jack Always found time for community involvement. He was an active participant in the United givers Fund (Currently referred to as United Way), the Nashville Boosters Club, Lions International, United Cerebral Palsy and was a 32nd degree mason. Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. “Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice that he has joined his father in everlasting life.” There will be a Memorial Visitation on Friday Aug 3rd from 11:00am until 1:00pm with a Memorial Service at 1:00pm at Brentwood Roesch Patton Funeral Home.
