Born on March 8, 1943, in Geneva, Ohio, Jim was the son of James F. Elliott and Ursula R. Elliott. He graduated from Madison Memorial High School and continued his education at both Kent State University and The Ohio State University.
On March 9, 1968, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Lois Davidson Elliott, in Madison, Ohio. Their marriage was a remarkable testament to love, faith, and partnership that spanned 58 years. Together, they built a life centered on family, service, and Christian values.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he lived and worked on the family farm before beginning a successful career in real estate and entrepreneurship. Throughout his professional life, he owned and operated several successful businesses and was respected for his integrity, leadership, and genuine care for others. His work provided opportunities not only to build businesses but also to mentor employees and associates, many of whom were touched by his faith and encouragement.
A devoted Christian, Jim had a deep passion for the Lord and a compassionate heart for those in need. He quietly and generously helped countless people throughout his life, often without seeking recognition. Those who knew him remember his kindness, humility, and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. His caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
After spending 20 years in Knoxville, Tennessee, Jim and Lois settled in Brentwood, Tennessee, where they made their home for the past 45 years. Together they worked in the real estate industry while establishing several successful business ventures. No matter where he lived, Jim remained deeply connected to his Ohio roots, his faith, and his family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Elliott; his nephew David Elliott, wife Ashley, and their precious children; sister-in-law Lavonna Elliott; nephew Ryan Buck; nieces Hallye Terrell and Hillary Gorman; and 43 cherished cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He treasured his large extended family and delighted in spending time with them whenever possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Elliott and Ursula R. Elliott, and by his brother, David L. Elliott.
Jim lived a quiet Christian life marked by love, compassion, generosity, and faith. His legacy is one of service to others, devotion to God, and unwavering love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Jim's well-lived life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Brentwood-Roesch Funeral Home, 9010 Church Street East, Brentwood, Tennessee.
