Jerry A. Mayo passed away on Sunday June 6th after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Nashville in 1946 to Ara and Homer Mayo. He was a graduate of Cohn High School in 1964 where he met his wife, Lynda. They were married 51 years.
He had a very successful business career with several insurance com-panies over the years. He started his career with Aetna Life and Casualty. He also worked for The Home Insurance Company and the Royal Insurance Company.
He served on many volunteer Boards over the years. Among them were The Advisory Council on Workers’ Compensation for State of Tennessee, The Tennessee Insurance Guaranty Association and Petersons For Parkinson’s Disease.
He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church where he served on The Vestry as Senior and Junior Warden for many years.
He was known by everyone for his quick wit and kindness to others. His family loved him dearly and he was a wonderful husband and Father. He loved The Tennessee Titans, The Nashville Predators, golf and many old classic cars.
He will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him. He made everyone laugh wherever he went.
He is survived by by his wife, Lynda, daughter Maria Mayo, sons Keith Mayo (Eddie), Matt Mayo and grandson Walter Mayo, his dear sisters, Kathleen Duke and Dianne Sexton. Also his beloved and loyal dog, Barney.
A memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 1420 Wilson Pike, Brentwood, TN on Saturday June 12th at 11:00. Visitation will be 1 hour before service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Jerry Mayo Memorial Fund at Good Shepherd or The Nashville Humane Society.
