I met Joe when he and his family moved to Tullahoma in about 6th grade. We would play with our little green plastic Army men on this big dirt mound. We were quite the pair; I was tall and hefty he was short,skinny and wiry. He was a natural athlete I was just big and clumsy. We were inseparable friends, though. He gave me confidence in myself to try new things and helped me find my calling as the guy on the block nobody could tackle. We grew up and apart but he'll always be my best friend on the block

I don't know this man or his family personally (a friend of a friend passed this along), but what a great tribute. I loved it and am sad I didn't get to meet him. Prayers and thoughts to the family. What a blessing to have this man in your lives.

Joe was simply extraordinary in his never-ending optimism and joyfulness. I will never forget him and the happiness he brought to his family and to all those around him, me included. Thank you Joe

There are many great memories of Joe Colin and his family, Alice, Joe, Linda and Tammy.  My heart  and prayers go out to you.  I love you all.

I remember Joe from High School as a person kind to everyone. He was a gifted athlete that was never recognized as well as he should have been.  Joe by all indications continued his path of success.  Though I lost touch with Joe after High School I was deeply saddened by this news. My prayers to the family, it sounds as though he lived life well!  Matt Barnett

Everybody loved Joe!  Joe was a friend that always raised others up and made you feel good about yourself.  A joy to be around!  I will always remember the ear to ear smile and that laugh!   Always the optomist!  An inspiration to us all on how to live life!

That smile...it would light up the  room.  Joe was a true southern gentleman and he will be greatly missed but always remembered.  Amy and family my prayers are with you.

Joe was a great person, as exemplified in his wonderful obituary. I met Joe when I became a Sigma Chi Little Sister and he always went the extra mile to say hello to me. He will be greatly missed. I'm sure he has run into my dear sister in Heaven and they are having a few beers while they catch up! My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Shoot one from the top of the key for me, old friend.

Joe was the most fun guy in High School you could ask for. Terrific athlete at B-ball and tennis. I was the golfer and we played tennis because he said I was the only one who could return his shots (yeah right). He was like that. His whole family was terrific to me when I stayed over-his mom made me keep my smelly shoes outside when I stayed there overnight. His dad had the best boat on the lake and Joe was a good skier. They raised a wonderful son and person. We pledged Sigma Chi at the same time (I had to drop out later) and we lost touch. He drank his first beer with Claude Snoddy, Charles Harvey and me at the  Lakewood C.C. pool after hours. Joe shotgunned a six pack and got a can stuck on his lip. He laughed for hours that night. Joe and I double dated and he was a bit shy with the agressive girls but always had the best to say afterward. The last time we spoke was the '99 reunion I believe. We met outside and talked for nearly two hours and he made me feel like I was special-he did that for so many people when I knew him. I feel privilaged to have know him and it sounds like for the rest of his life his basic love for people never changed. It hurts that he passed but to remember him is to bring back the best feelings of life. I am sorry for his family and all who loved him. To be such a bright light in the world as he was, it is a little dimmer now. I love you Joe. Ed May.

Amy, I'm stunned to hear of Joe's passing, and so sorry for you and your beautiful children.  He was such a very, very good and loving man.  He always wore a smile when I saw him, and his warmth and positive outlook came shining through Colin and Caroline.  You are in my thoughts.

I remember all the great times growing up, and all the great basketball.  Joe thought he was "Pistol Pete" and it worked.

Some people cast a light so bright that we grow accustomed to it and fail to realize what a shadow will be cast upon our hearts by their passing. I knew Joe for 15 years and consider him to be one of those people. Dana and I extend our warmest regards to his family now and to the memories that Joe left with us.

Joe will be greatly missed.I ask our Creator to comfort and give strength alway's.Another Angel has been called.He was "friend" to all he met.

Even when I hadn't seen Joe for months, whenever I came over to the Pigott house he would sit down and talk with me like we were old friends. Great guy who had an amazing family who will continue to live the selfless, generous, kind and funny life Joe inspired.

Although we have never met in person I feel as if I know you all. I had the honor to work with Joe for the past 5 years or so. There was never a time that we spoke or if we were together for a business meeting that he wasn't talking about all of you.  He was so proud of you!

I will remember Joe fondly.  I always knew when he would be here in Chattanooga, all he had to do was laugh.  You just knew it was Joe, his laugh was very distinctive.
