Born on the 2nd of December 1934 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and passed away on the the 30th of November 2013.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bryan and his mother, Mrs. Lucille Gies Faulk.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Abbie Lou Hollis Bryan and his two sons, Joseph Elwood Bryan, Jr. and James Hollis Bryan, both of Nashville. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Bryan from Brandon, Mississippi, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe served in the Army following the Korean War and was stationed in Korea for eighteen months. He then graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Business. He retired from IBM after 32 years of service. After retirement, he devoted as much time as possible to tennis until health issues forced him in other exercise directions. He could be found most mornings working out at the Brentwood YMCA.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, the 4th of December, 2013 from ten o'clock that morning until twelve noon at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A mass will then follow at one o'clock in The Chapel at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6401 Harding Road, Nashville, TN 37205, with the entrance to the chapel located at the back of the building.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to Bill Wilkerson Speech and Hearing Center, 1215 21st Ave S., Suite 9302, Nashville, TN 37232; or to the charity of one's choice .
