Mary Elizabeth Lyon Hill

Mrs. Hill was born in Chorley, England on August 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Charles Sidney Lyon and Hannah Hindle Lyon. She was an avid ballroom dancer since the age of four and dance frequently at VFW Post #88 for fifteen years. Mrs. Hill was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, knitting 211 Prayer Shawls. She lived for Sundays as attending service at her church and ballroom dancing where the highlight of every week. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret, Barbara, David, and Susan.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna M. Bush and Sherrie Swan (Forrest Swan, Jr.); sister-in-law, Margaret Lyon; grandchildren; Caprice Allison Atwell (Donald), Emily Louise Swan, Forrest Swan, III, Michael Blackshear Bush, Matthew Lyon Bush (Shelby Marie), and David Thomas Bush; and a great-grandchild, Katelyn Elizabeth Bush. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 17, 2017, at eleven o’clock, Brentwood United Methodist Church.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday from ten o’clock until the funeral hour.

The Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wesley Forum Sunday School Class. Please any attendees who received a prayer shawl from Mrs. Hill wear it in honor of her on Friday.
