

Mary Jane was born January 6, 1923, in Mechanicsburg, PA, the daughter of Charles Victor Hassler and Mabel Aletia Cox Hassler. She was raised in Media, PA, where her father pastored the Media Presbyterian Church.
She attended Media High School, class of 1941, and remained close to her classmates throughout her life.
Mary Jane attended Albright College in 1941, then returned home while her father served as an Army chaplain overseas. She then attended Ursinus College, earning a degree in 1946.
As a new teacher, she took a position in Spring City, PA where she taught English, History, and sponsored drama productions, an activity she greatly enjoyed. She taught school until her marriage to Horace (Hap) Macintire, a West Point graduate embarking on a career in the Army.
After the Army, the family settled in Brentwood where she enjoyed various outdoor activities. She loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed the wildlife in her yard including the various birds she fed.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Horace (Hap) Macintire, her parents and her brother, Bill Hassler of Powell, Wyoming. She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Bunt (Bill), David Macintire (Dianne), and Jeff Macintire (Jerrie); grandchildren Barbara Bunt Kiasatpour (Sol), David Bunt (Becca), Betsy Bunt, Scott Macintire (Abby), Beth Macintire, Amy Macintire; great grandchildren Camron Kiasatpour, Marcus Macintire, Leo Macintire, Zane Macintire, Mary Ryan Bunt, Will Bunt, Annie Bunt; nephews Chuck Hassler, Chris Hassler, niece Lee Hassler, and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers and friends who gave so much of themselves helping Mary Jane in her final years.
Per Mary Jane's wishes, no memorial service is planned.
Interment will be in the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY cemetery where her husband is laid to rest.
